F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

ONLINE TUTORING: What technology equipment would I need to have?

From a personal computer to a cellular phone, as long as you have internet connection, we can make it work. We can do more interactive activities on the same screen if you have a computer/laptop; however, if you are on a tablet or cell phone, we adjust well and we would just do more activities on paper.

ONLINE TUTORING: What supplies/materials should I have?

This would be dependent on the student's goals; however, with most students, we tend to use a dry erase board, a marker, papers, a pencil, and color pencils/crayons.

How long are the tutoring sessions?

Sessions vary in length from 30 minutes to 2 hours. This is based on the number of student's needs/goals. As we get to know the student better, different session lengths and frequencies may be recommended.

Most sessions average 60 minutes. Below is additional information to consider when deciding the length and frequency of your tutoring session.

60 Minute Sessions

Students learning a new skill may benefit from
45 to 60 minutes of individualized, private tutoring, 2 to 4 times per week.

If the student is just needing a little extra practice on a specific skill or would prefer to ask the tutor questions, perhaps
60 minutes once per week would work well for them.

90 Minutes Per Session

Students who would like to improve in two different subjects are usually recommended to dedicate at least 90 minutes (1.5 hours) to individualized, private tutoring 2 times per week.

Session may be broken up into segments, with a break between them.

120 Minutes Per Session

Students who are currently performing more than one grade level behind in multiple subjects may benefit from 120 minute sessions (2 hours), 2 times per week of individualized, private tutoring.

Breaks may be incorporated into the sessions regularly/as needed.
